Baseball Recap: Argonaut Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Argonaut, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Calaveras Red Hawks on Friday as the Argonaut Mustangs made off with a 10-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mustangs have posted against the Red Hawks since April 18, 2023.

Marcus Scaife made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Argonaut: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 1-2 otherwise.

Scaife wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sam Jones, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Jones has posted since back in April of 2024.

Argonaut's record is now 4-2. As for Calaveras, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Argonaut will head out to challenge El Dorado at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Argonaut's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Calaveras, they will head out on the road to square off against Linden at 4:00 p.m. on March 14th.
