Dover is 2-8 against Spackenkill since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Dragons will square off against the Spartans at 4:15 p.m. Dover is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Dover was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Ellenville on Thursday. The Dragons never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Dragons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Daniella Drake was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Francesca Calabro, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Madisyn Reilly also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Dover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ellenville only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Spackenkill posted their closest win since April 28, 2025 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Highland 5-4. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Like Dover, Spackenkill also got a great game from a two-way player: Cadie Hanaburgh. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Hanaburgh was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Adriana Alessandro was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Maddy Hasbrouck was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple.
Spackenkill's record is now 4-1. As for Dover, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dover has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Spackenkill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dover suffered a grim 13-7 defeat to Spackenkill when the teams last played last Thursday. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
