Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Bobcats vs. Madison Trojans

The Meridian Bobcats and the Madison Trojans will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. The timing is sure in Meridian's favor as the squad sits on 18 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Madison has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

On Thursday, Meridian took their matchup with ease, bagging a 76-45 victory over Agape Christian. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Madison ended up a good deal behind Calhoun on Thursday and lost 63-46. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Warriors are ranked 181st).

Meridian is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.6 points per game. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Everything went Meridian's way against Madison in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Meridian made off with a 59-39 win. Will Meridian repeat their success, or does Madison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
