Paradise is 9-1 against Durham since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bobcats will welcome the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Paradise has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Durham will arrive with six straight wins.
Paradise fell victim to East Nicolaus and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 12-0 to the Spartans.
Meanwhile, while Durham put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Pierce. The Trojans put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 6-0 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Annalee Horn, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Pierce off the board. Horn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Durham let Sophia Owen and Clare Osbon run wild. Owen went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Osbon went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ashley Spence was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Durham's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Paradise, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Paradise has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Durham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Paradise came up short against Durham in their previous matchup back in March, falling 4-0. Will the Bobcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
