Baseball Recap: Fishers Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Fishers had won four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 13-2 to make it five. They came out on top against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals by a score of 5-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Tigers' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Owen Sanders spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Mayo Fernandez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Luke Cherry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Hamilton Southeastern, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Hamilton Southeastern's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Michael Hoog gave up five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Hoog has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hamilton Southeastern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker O'Steen, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Isaiah Hamilton also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Fishers will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hamilton Southeastern: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
