Recap: Unaka Rangers vs. Coalfield Yellow Jackets
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Unaka Rangers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 63-8 loss at the hands of Coalfield on Friday. While losing is never fun, Unaka can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 337th, while Coalfield is ranked 158th).
Brynin Repass threw for 95 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah White was his top target, picking up 61 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, TJ Thomas rushed for 29 yards.
Unaka's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 2-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.6 points per game. As for Coalfield, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Unaka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Coalfield will be playing at home against Rockwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
