Basketball Game Preview: Danville Warriors vs. Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles

The Danville Warriors will face off against the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Danville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Guerin Catholic likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Danville took their matchup with ease, bagging an 80-43 win over Frankfort. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

Cameron Mcmahon had an outrageously good game as he went 10 for 17 to rack up 26 points and five assists. Those 26 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Ward, who went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points and four steals.

Danville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Guerin Catholic faced New Palestine in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Guerin Catholic took a hard 66-51 fall against New Palestine. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Golden Eagles who fell 63-61 when the teams previously met back in February of 2023.

Danville's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9. As for Guerin Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 17-4.
