Baseball Recap: Pueblo Centennial Takes a Loss

Pueblo Centennial extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-19 in the process. They came up short against the Sand Creek Scorpions, falling 15-4. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Scorpions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Julian Rincon was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Lenn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

As for Sand Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-10. The result was nothing new for the Scorpions, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Sand Creek's side, Logan Rockhold was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Rockhold has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Sand Creek is 8-1 when Rockhold posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avyn Walter, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Braden Hunnanm was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As of now, neither Pueblo Centennial nor Sand Creek have any future games scheduled.
