Basketball Recap: Wake Prep Academy's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Wake Prep Academy waltzed into their game on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the East Wake Academy Eagles 76-32. The Guardians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Wake Prep Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Langton, who went 7 of 9 en route to 17 points and five steals. Langton is becoming a predictor of Wake Prep Academy's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Karly Beckstrand, who posted eight points along with eight steals and six rebounds.

Wake Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Wake Prep Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.2 points. As for East Wake Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wake Prep Academy will head out to square off against Research Triangle Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wake Prep Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for East Wake Academy, they will face off against Wake Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
