The Bluegrass United Bluehawks will head out on the road to square off against the Louisville Saints HomeSchool Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bluegrass United has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 406 points over their last six contests.
Bluegrass United pushed their score all the way to 60 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Garrard County by a score of 62-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Bluegrass United has suffered yet this season.
The losing side was boosted by Caleb Burnett, who scored 30 points along with five steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Sammy King was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Louisville Saints HomeSchool posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Francis Parker 73-43 at home. Louisville Saints HomeSchool pushed the score to 57-32 by the end of the third, a deficit Francis Parker had little chance of recovering from.
Abel Shreve was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Drew Hartman, who scored 12 points along with eight steals and five blocks.
Bluegrass United's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Louisville Saints HomeSchool, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bluegrass United have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Louisville Saints HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bluegrass United came up short against Louisville Saints HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 73-65. Can Bluegrass United avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
