Basketball Recap: San Miguel Comes Up Short

San Miguel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 33rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves and fell 77-18. The Vipers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-5.

Megan Callahan was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 steals for St. Augustine Catholic. Callahan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carolina Georgelos, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

San Miguel's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for St. Augustine Catholic, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.

San Miguel and St. Augustine Catholic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. San Miguel (ranked 308th) will meet Willcox (ranked 115th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, St. Augustine Catholic will challenge Miami at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 140 places (146 vs. 6).
