Baseball Recap: Columbus East Takes a Loss

Columbus East managed to slip by Madison the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Olympians lost 8-1 to the Cubs on Wednesday. The Olympians' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Ryker Stott was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, J.D. Rotert made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Columbus East's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Madison, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Columbus East will host Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Woodmen will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Madison, they will venture away from home to take on Lanesville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
