Basketball Recap: Baxter Springs Comes Up Short

Baxter Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Columbus Titans, falling 45-12. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Columbus' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katy Mooney, who posted 18 points. Brylie Johnson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Baxter Springs' record is now 0-5. As for Columbus, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Baxter Springs Lions challenge the St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. As for Columbus, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Galena on January 28th. Columbus has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
