Softball Recap: Henrico Comes Up Short

Henrico extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-13. They came up short against Maggie Walker, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Maggie Walker this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-4 back in April.

As for Maggie Walker, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-12. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by nine runs or more this season.

For Maggie Walker's part, they got a massive performance out of Ashley Simmons, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave Simmons a new career-high. Hadley Walder was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and four runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Henrico will welcome Highland Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Springers have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Maggie Walker, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Thomas Jefferson at 3:45 p.m.
