Recap: Lake Minneola Hawks vs. Deltona Wolves
The Lake Minneola Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 48-31 bruising from Deltona. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake Minneola has scored all season.
Loss or not, Lake Minneola got some senior leadership from Mia Saunders and Eva Saunders. Saunders scored 14 points along with three steals, while Saunders. scored eight points along with two steals.
Deltona had a senior duo take command as Nevaeh Barbary dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds and Calise Chisholm scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Barbary also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Iniya Reddicks, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lake Minneola bumped their record down to 10-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Deltona, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Lake Minneola will head out on the road to challenge Dr. Phillips at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dr. Phillips knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Lake Minneola likes a good challenge. As for Deltona, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Seminole at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seminole has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
