Bladensburg and High Point are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bladensburg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with 31 straight defeats, while High Point will come in with four straight victories.

Northwestern hit Bladensburg with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs came up short against the Wildcats, falling 8-2.

Meanwhile, High Point never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Laurel as they made off with an 11-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Yojancel Soto was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Elinzon Ruiz and Keysi Matos did most of the damage at the plate: Ruiz went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Matos went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. David Peralta-Jerez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

High Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurel only posted an OBP of .118.

High Point's record now sits at 9-2. As for Bladensburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Bladensburg suffered a grim 31-4 defeat to High Point when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
