Preview: Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders vs. Curtis Baptist Crusaders
Jefferson Davis Academy has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Curtis Baptist Crusaders at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson Davis Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 268th in South Carolina, while Curtis Baptist is ranked 114th in Georgia).
While Jefferson Davis Academy couldn't quite beat Holly Hill Academy two weeks ago, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 41-point defeat they were dealt back in December of 2023. Jefferson Davis Academy fell just short of Holly Hill Academy by a score of 38-36.
Meanwhile, Curtis Baptist entered their tilt with Cambridge Academy with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Curtis Baptist came out on top against Cambridge Academy by a score of 52-39 on Tuesday.
Curtis Baptist found their leader in underclassman Maci Butler, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Butler hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla Robinson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Jefferson Davis Academy's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Curtis Baptist, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
