Softball Recap: South Garner Takes a Loss

South Garner extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-12 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Fuquay - Varina Bengals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bengals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 last Tuesday.

As for Fuquay - Varina, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Fuquay - Varina, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Fuquay - Varina's part, they let Chloe Webb and Jaycie Old run wild. Webb got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Old went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Old a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Taylor, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

South Garner has already played their next contest (against Willow Spring), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Fuquay - Varina, they will square off against Garner at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bengals surely won't give up without a fight.
