Baseball Game Preview: Warren East Raiders vs. Green County Dragons

The Warren East Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Green County Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Warren East turned things around against Franklin-Simpson on Thursday. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Kavien Hinton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of William Alexander, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Green County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Hawks. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by just one run.

Not much got past Tatum Durrett, who gave up just five hits to keep Larue County off the board. Durrett has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Houk, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Green County pushed their record up to 9-6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Warren East, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
