Softball Recap: Monroe Central Takes a Loss

Monroe Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 15-3 to the Delta Eagles. The Golden Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Monroe Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kloe Brannon, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Delta, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10. The game marked their most dominant win of the season.

On Delta's side, Kaitlynn Burns made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Burns has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Destinee Drown, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since April 8th. The team also got some help courtesy of Liz Bramlett, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.

Looking ahead, Monroe Central will venture away from home to take on Eastern Hancock at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Delta, they will be playing at home against Muncie Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
