Baseball Recap: Elida Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Elida proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Bath Wildcats 6-4. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ryan McGue spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Darien Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Elida was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

Elida's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Bath, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elida will host Coldwater at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bath, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ottawa-Glandorf at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
