Basketball Recap: South Central Piles Up the Points Against Tri-Township

South Central was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Tri-Township on Friday. The South Central Satellites blew past the Tri-Township Tigers, posting a 67-25 victory. That looming 67-25 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Satellites yet this season.

Clayten Strauch went supernova for South Central, going 5 of 8 en route to 12 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. Brayden Lautenbach was another key player, going 5 for 6 on his way to 12 points and seven boards.

South Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, Tri-Township saw an underclassman step up: freshman Hector Osornio posted eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Osornio a new career-high in steals. Chance Ringle also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

The win got South Central back to even at 8-8. As for Tri-Township, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

South Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-46 victory against New Prairie on the 1st. As for Tri-Township, they will take on Hammond Academy of Science & Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
