Basketball Recap: Galesburg Christian Comes Up Short

Galesburg Christian lost against Morning Star Academy two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Galesburg Christian Lions took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morning Star Academy Mustangs.

When it comes to explaining why Galesburg Christian lost, don't look at Isaac Movida. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points along with seven boards and three steals. That's the most rebounds Movida has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of James Miller, who put up two points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Galesburg Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches.

Morning Star Academy was led to victory by David Martin and Bryson Minnich. Martin almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Minnich almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Minnich continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Joshua Brady was another key player, putting up seven points.

Galesburg Christian now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Morning Star Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Galesburg Christian has already played their next contest, a 41-40 loss against East Moline Christian on the 8th. As for Morning Star Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 63-25 defeat against Faith Christian on the 7th.
