Recap: Aztec Tigers vs. Taos Tigers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Aztec Tigers had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 21-14 win over Taos. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Aztec.

It was another big night for Baylor Seabolt, who rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry. Seabolt was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.

Another reason for the win was Aztec's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kris Cook and Kale Watson who racked up five sacks between them.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lionel Salazar, who picked up 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Evan Salazar, who threw for 239 yards and a touchdown on only 19 passes.

Aztec has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Taos, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Aztec will head out on the road to face off against Silver at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Silver will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. Taos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
