Basketball Recap: Lompoc's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

Lompoc won the last time they faced Pioneer Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lompoc Braves came out on top against the Pioneer Valley Panthers by a score of 49-39. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Panthers are ranked 1025th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Lompoc and bumps their season record up to 17-4. As for Pioneer Valley, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Lompoc will welcome Santa Maria at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Santa Maria knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 22 games -- so hopefully Lompoc likes a good challenge. As for Pioneer Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Orcutt Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Pioneer Valley is facing Orcutt Academy at the right time seeing as Orcutt Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
