Baseball Recap: Mortimer Jordan Wins Going Away Against Hayden

Mortimer Jordan barely beat Hayden the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils were the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over the Hayden Wildcats on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jeremiah Tingle looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Mortimer Jordan is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Braylon Disko, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Mortimer Jordan is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Bryce Funderburk was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Mortimer Jordan's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Hayden, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Mortimer Jordan will host Hueytown at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hueytown's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Mortimer Jordan's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hayden, they will venture away from home to face off against West Point at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
