Basketball Game Preview: Gardendale Rockets vs. Jasper Vikings

The Gardendale Rockets and the Jasper Vikings will round out the year against one another at on Friday. One thing working in Gardendale's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.

Last Friday, Gardendale made easy work of Chilton County and carried off a 66-42 win. Given the Rockets' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Tigers are ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Jasper's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Boaz 52-48.

Gardendale pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Jasper, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Gardendale was dealt a bruising 57-21 loss at the hands of Jasper in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Can Gardendale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
