Football Recap: Susan Moore Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Susan Moore kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. The match between the Bulldogs and the Pennington Tigers didn't end well, with the Bulldogs falling 44-28. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Susan Moore saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sam Garrison rushed for 146 yards and two scores while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 209 yards and a pair of TDs. Garrison's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 143 rushing yards dating back to last season. 127 of Garrison's passing yards were hauled in by Lucas Beard, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Pennington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Butler, who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. Noah McClendon was another key player, picking up 51 receiving yards and two scores.

Looking ahead, Susan Moore will welcome Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pennington, they are taking a road trip to square off against Wellborn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
