Football Recap: Susan Moore Falls to Pennington in First Game of Season

Susan Moore kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost to the Pennington Tigers on the road by a 44-28 margin. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Susan Moore lost, don't look at Sam Garrison. Despite the final result, he rushed for 146 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Garrison's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 143 rushing yards dating back to last season. Susan Moore's leading receiver Lucas Beard was Garrison's top target yet again, picking up 127 receiving yards and one score.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pennington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Butler, who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries. Noah McClendon was another key player, picking up 51 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Looking ahead, Susan Moore will square off against Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pennington, they will take on Wellborn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
