Preview: Joppa-Maple Grove Rangers vs. Marissa/Coulterville Meteors
The Joppa-Maple Grove Rangers will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Joppa-Maple Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
Joppa-Maple Grove suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Meridian 101-40. While losing is never fun, Joppa-Maple Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 761st, while Meridian is ranked 274th).
The losing side was boosted by Maurice Zabala, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kasey Cohoon, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Marissa/Coulterville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Agape Christian 74-17 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Marissa/Coulterville has posted yet this season.
Joppa-Maple Grove bumped their record down to 6-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Marissa/Coulterville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.
