Basketball Game Preview: Higley Knights vs. Gilbert Tigers

Higley hasn't had much luck against Gilbert recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Higley Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Gilbert Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Higley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Gilbert likes a good challenge.

Higley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Highland, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Higley was ranked tenth). Higley managed a 61-56 victory over Highland on Friday.

Meanwhile, Gilbert posted their closest win since January 18, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Queen Creek 56-54. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Higley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points over those games. As for Gilbert, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Everything came up roses for Higley against Gilbert in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured an 85-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Higley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
