Softball Recap: Newton Comes Up Short

Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 14-1 to Woodville. Newton was not able to make up for their loss to Woodville from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Woodville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Newton is set to take on their familiar foe Diboll at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Woodville will face off against rival Pollok Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
