Baseball Game Preview: Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals vs. Valley Torah Wolfpack

Santa Clarita Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against Valley Torah recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Wolfpack at 7:00 p.m. Valley Torah took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Santa Clarita Christian, who comes in off a win.

Santa Clarita Christian took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Palmdale Academy Charter School a 13-0 shutout. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cardinals yet this season.

Zane Stauffer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Santa Clarita Christian is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-8 otherwise. Stauffer was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Wyatt Waldron was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Santa Clarita Christian: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Zach Pe?a was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Valley Torah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 22-0 to Desert Christian.

Santa Clarita Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Valley Torah, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything went Santa Clarita Christian's way against Valley Torah when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Santa Clarita Christian made off with a 7-0 win.
