Baseball Recap: Sale Creek Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Sale Creek waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Midway Green Wave 8-2. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Green Wave, too.

Gabriel Abbott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Tyler Marler was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Baker, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Sale Creek's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Midway, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Coming up, Sale Creek will challenge Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Midway, they will square off against Rockwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Green Wave are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
