Baseball Recap: Gulliver Prep Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

There's no place like home for Gulliver Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Everglades Gators by a score of 9-5 on Friday.

Gulliver Prep got a great performance from Rob Dickman as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Dickman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Lombard, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Julian Herrera, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Gulliver Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gulliver Prep's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-20. As for Everglades, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Gulliver Prep will square off against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stallions have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Everglades, they will face off against Mater Academy Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
