Basketball Recap: Largo Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Aysiah Harris and Aleah Rodriguez

If Largo was feeling good fresh off their 61-16 takedown of Surrattsville on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Largo Lions took a 74-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets on Tuesday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Aleah Rodriguez and Aysiah Harris certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Rodriguez went 9 of 15 en route to 24 points, while Harris went 6 for 13 on her way to 20 points and three steals. Harris' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Noelle Crosby, who posted six points and five steals.

It was another big night for Reagan Mason, who put up 24 points for Gwynn Park. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliyah Contee, who scored 12 points and seven rebounds.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-3. As for Gwynn Park, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Largo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-37 victory against Friendly on the 30th. As for Gwynn Park, they have also already played their next match, a 73-18 win against Fairmont Heights on the 30th.
