Baseball Recap: Normangee Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

With a playoff win on the line, Normangee rose to the challenge on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Douglass Indians 11-10. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Wyatt Kimich made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Normangee's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 3-9 when he doesn't). Kimich was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cade Harris was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Farrell Butler, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Normangee moved to 7-11 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Douglass, they moved to 17-8-1 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Normangee will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Indians: the pair will be back at it again later today.
