Baseball Game Preview: Bellingham Blackhawks vs. Millis Mohawks

Bellingham is 9-1 against Millis since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Blackhawks will venture away from home to face off against the Mohawks at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Bellingham made easy work of Douglas and carried off a 10-1 victory.

Payton Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brock Barry, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ryan Visconti, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Bellingham hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas struck out 12 times.

Meanwhile, Millis had just enough and edged out Hopedale 5-4 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mohawks.

Millis' win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nick Hohman, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave Hohman a new career-high.

Bellingham's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Millis, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bellingham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Millis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Bellingham couldn't quite finish off Millis in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Blackhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
