Recap: Awaken Christian Lions vs. Lincoln County Lynx
The Awaken Christian Lions suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Lincoln County at home and fell 61-26. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Awaken Christian in their matchups with Lincoln County: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katelynn Montello, who scored six points along with nine steals and five assists. Montello is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Sharp, who scored ten points along with nine blocks and six rebounds.
Awaken Christian's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 6-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Lincoln County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-10.
Coincidentally, Awaken Christian and Lincoln County will both be playing White Pine the next time they take the court. Awaken Christian will host White Pine at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Lincoln County will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
