Baseball Game Preview: Crespi Celts vs. La Salle Lancers

The Crespi Celts will face off against the La Salle Lancers at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Crespi 1.3, La Salle 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

If Crespi beats La Salle with eight runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Celts were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Saugus on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Celts, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jackson Eisenhauer looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Josh Stonehouse, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Troy Miller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, La Salle unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Notre Dame (SO). The shutout was out of character for the Lancers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

La Salle saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Frane Flores, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple was Flores' first of the season.

The victory (which was Crespi's third in a row) raised their record to 17-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for La Salle, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.
