Basketball Game Preview: Teays Valley Vikings vs. Newark Wildcats

Teays Valley is 0-3 against Newark since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Teays Valley Vikings will head out to square off against the Newark Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.

Teays Valley is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 59-46 to Canal Winchester.

Meanwhile, Newark came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 60-52 victory over the Tigers. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Tigers are ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newark's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Teays Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Teays Valley suffered a grim 71-49 defeat to Newark in their previous matchup back in January. Can Teays Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
