AAA Region 8 recap October 8, 2013
Elbert County's Rantious Reed recorded the longest rushing play in AAA Region 8 this season in his game against Oconee County last week. Reed ran for 90 yards on the play and finished with 242 on the day as his team beat the Warriors.
Fans got a thrill when Tate Adcock and Kyle Vaughn connected against Morgan County. The connection was good for 68 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
North Oconee's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Adcock threw for 290 and 3 touchdowns and Vaughn had 130 yards receiving. On the ground Kawon Bryant chipped in 250 yards. Garrett Greene helped North Oconee's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 78 yards.
The Titans' dynamic duo of Adcock and Vaughn proved tough for the Bulldogs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Greene helped North Oconee's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 78 yards.
Bryant was a force in the backfield as North Oconee topped Morgan County.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Jackson County's Jacob Lewis and Xavier Harper have proven to be a lethal combination. Lewis has thrown for 1,217 yards this season, while Harper has 27 catches for 500 yards. Bryant from Terry Tuley's team leads the league in rushing with 1,357 yards.
An important game coming up in AAA Region 8 this week will be when Elbert County takes on Kenny Moore's team. Sid Fritts' team is in fourth place, while the Bulldogs are in third place.
The Titans moved up to 57 from 84 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. North Oconee was able to move up by topping Morgan County 56-14.
