Softball Recap: Morris Catholic Wins Going Away Against Sparta

Morris Catholic barely beat Sparta the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 10-1 win on Monday. Considering the Crusaders have won three games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sofia Reisinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Savannah Mead was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Gia Bonsignore was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Morris Catholic and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Sparta, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morris Catholic will head out to challenge Pequannock at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sparta, they will venture away from home to face off against High Point at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
