Baseball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 8-2 to the Rowan County Vikings.

Monticello saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Barnes, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Those hits were Barnes' first of the season.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Rowan County, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Coming up, Monticello will face off against Boyd County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rowan County, they will challenge North Oldham at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 4, the Mustangs 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
