Baseball Game Preview: Hampshire Hawks vs. Culleoka Warriors

For the second straight game, Hampshire will face off against Culleoka. The Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampshire is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.

Hampshire had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Culleoka on Monday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Elijah Stephens spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Keaon Nicholson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Nicholson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Culleoka dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Hampshire, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Culleoka's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hampshire has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480.
