Basketball Game Preview: Torrance Tartars vs. South Spartans

The Torrance Tartars will head out to square off against the South Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Torrance will be strutting in after a win while South will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Torrance slipped by El Segundo 48-47. Given the Tartars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Eagles are ranked 541st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a classic North v. South duel when South faced off against North on Friday. South fell 62-53 to North. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Saxons: they've now lost six in a row.

Torrance has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for South, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-10.

Torrance skirted past South 49-46 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Torrance since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
