League recap: Carrollton win leads to rise in state rank

Carrollton moved up to 118 from 150 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Tri-Valley - West. The Cavaliers were able to make the jump by beating Valley Lutheran 49-13.

Ithaca extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Charles, 52-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

Mike Greenwood provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Michigan Lutheran Seminary topped St. Louis. He completed eight passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 159 yards. Greenwood's favorite target this week was Nathanael Schroeder, who caught two passes for 66 yards.

Stephen Dietrich was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 171 yards on 10 carries as the Cardinals lost to the Cardinals.

Crowley was the best wideout in Tri-Valley - West this week as St. Louis lost to Michigan Lutheran Seminary. Crowley tallied eight receptions for 114 yards. Tyler Bailey helped St. Louis' passing attack out by catching one ball for 25 yards.

Travis Smith put up the best numbers through the air as Ithaca defeated the Bulldogs. He finished with 12 completions for 134 yards and three touchdowns. Smith's favorite target this week was Zach Allen, who caught six passes for 62 yards.

6-foot-2 quarterback Smith of Terry Hessbrook's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1199. He has also thrown 20 touchdowns. On the ground, Karl Schmugge's team's Dietrich has rushed for 935 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Derek Good. The Merrill star has 17 catches for 368 yards.

The Cardinals' Dietrich needs only 65 yards against Breckenridge next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when St. Charles takes on Carrollton. At the moment, Jason Dinninger's team is in fifth, while Greg Wasmer's team is in second.

Merrill took down the Huskies 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Austin Glazier threw for 114 yards and three touchdowns and ran for four yards in the win.
