Soccer Game Preview: Highland Park vs. Wakeland

The Highland Park Scots will venture away from home to face off against the Wakeland Wolverines at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Highland Park sitting on five straight wins and Wakeland on nine.

Highland Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Turner a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, everything went Wakeland's way against Newman Smith on Tuesday as Wakeland made off with an 8-0 win. It was an even better day for Dilan Pistorius as she scored three goals for her team.

Wakeland pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those five matches. As for Highland Park, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Highland Park came up short against Wakeland in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, falling 3-1. Can Highland Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
