Football Game Preview: Evangel Christian Academy Lions vs. Springwood Wildcats + How To Watch

Evangel Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Springwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Evangel Christian Academy came up short against Trinity Christian and fell 31-22.

Although Evangel Christian Academy took the loss, they still got scores from London Belcher, DJ Dorsey, and Donnell Harris.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springwood). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-18 win over Heritage Christian Academy. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Springwood's win came from a few key players Evangel Christian Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was James Do, who rushed for 133 yards on only six carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Tucker Sides, who rushed for 96 yards.

Springwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Adam Baltes and Remington Gauntt.

Springwood's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Evangel Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Evangel Christian Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 155.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Springwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 186.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Evangel Christian Academy took a serious blow against Springwood in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 88-58. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
