Recap: Bronaugh Wildcats vs. Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers
The Bronaugh Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jefferson Independent Day. Bronaugh has not had much luck with Jefferson Independent Day recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Bronaugh's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada Brundridge, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Gretchen Banes was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Bronaugh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their ninth loss (out of 11 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Bronaugh has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Jefferson Independent Day, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bronaugh and Sheldon will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Sheldon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they will head out on the road to face off against Northeast Vernon County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
